Ophthalmic (Suraydaya Eye Center):

CMRI has tied up with L V Prasad Eye Institute (LVPEI), Hyderabad -the first collaboration of its kind in Eastern India to develop a tertiary eye care centre with focus on research and training. We wish to develop a three tier eye care model for the community. This model will spread comprehensive, affordable eye care in the rural areas as well as provide facilities for advanced eye care.

The tertiary centre being developed at CMRI has all the latest cutting-edge technology in terms of equipment and trained manpower. The manpower training is provided by LVPEI. This centre will also imbibe the philosophy of LVPEI, which is in keeping with the CMRI philosophy too. We will provide tertiary care at an affordable price and with a human face. This centre will be an institute of excellence served by full time dedicated personnel. Doctors will cover all major sub-specialties in eye care -cornea, glaucoma, retina, oculoplastics and paediatric eye diseases. There will be facilities for eye banking and cornea grafting as also separate units to deal with ocular infections and trauma.

The paediatric unit will be capable of dealing with complicated childhood diseases like developmental cataract, glaucoma and retinopathy of prematurity (ROP). Complicated vitreo-retinal surgeries will be performed here. Latest laser surgeries as those for age related macular degeneration (ARMD) -Photo Dynamic Therapy, as well as care for the diabetic eye will be available. The centre will have dedicated experts to perform high quality, safe cataract surgeries.

Suryodaya Eye Centre at CMRI is a new centre for excellent, efficient, affordable and equitable eye care employing state of-the-art sight-saving medical and surgical equipment and techniques. The department is fully staffed by highly qualified and trained full time Ophthalmologists, Optometrists an other technical staff to offer expert, cost effective diagnostic and treatment services in all speciality areas of ophthalmic care.
